Drills have a lot of uses, as they are a very versatile power tool, they can do more than just drilling into the most common materials. Cordless Combi Drill
This is the most popular drill you can buy. These drills are usually quite lightweight, use a battery for power, a cordless combi drill will do most of the things you want, such as drill into wood, use as a screwdriver or use it’s hammer function to drill into brick.
Corded Drill
Although these have mostly been replaced by cordless drills, there are some scenarios where a mains power drill is requires. You don’t have to worry about the battery running out, loss of power.
Cordless Drill Driver
A cordless drill driver is for those that want a drill for light use, to drill into softer martials such as wood or plasterboard, can be used as an electric screwdriver. A drill driver will struggle to drill into masonry and should not be used for this.
Corded Hammer Drill
If you are going to be doing a lot of drilling into masonry, you will want a corded hammer drill. You will often find these have more power when compared to the cordless combi drill. A corded hammer drill will have a easier time drilling into masonry.
SDS Rotary Hammer Drill
SDS which stands for Special Drive System, is a specialized heavy-duty drill. It has more power compared to a hammer drill, and where a hammer drill can’t drill through masonry, a SDS drill will. SDS will drill through brick, masonry, concrete, steel, and various other materials.
